We have to get out of this colonial, ‘us or them’, squander and pillage mindset. If we dismissed the idiot rantings of the quasi-actuaries infesting the halls of power in Victoria and the ‘unthink tanks’ such as the Eraser institute, we would come to realise that we have more than enough public funds for lifeblood programs such as education and health. The issue is that we have too many pigs mucking at the trough; pigs who have been squandering our natural resources for their own, and their porcine accomplices, benefit. Most distressing is the belief, by apparently at least a third of the electorate, that these cretinous highway robbers are the best choice for BC or worse; that they are actually our betters. Vote for who you will next month, but let me disabuse you of a few facts:
  1. There are no godless hordes waiting over the hill to steal your garbage and make the cat pregnant.
  2. Politicians, like the rest of us, need to be judged by their actions and deeds, not by the rancorous bile that oozes from the pores of incumbent muck-rakers.
  3. We are no better than our politicians and, more importantly, they no more than us.
  4. If we do not hold our leaders’ feet to the fire, then we have no right to expect them to walk over beds of coal for us.
  5. There IS enough money in the pot.
It has simply been misappropriated for too long; funneled into vainglorious projects of political self aggrandizement.
I don’t presume to tell anyone who to elect, but I can tell you who NOT to elect – our current cabal. . . They have shamed themselves and soiled their political pants. They continue to wallow in the mire of their own self interest.
Come next month, let’s prove to ourselves that we know our worth and not just on election day. Cultivate a relationship with your MLA, let him or her know you are here and not leaving anytime soon. you deserve better . . . we all deserve better; but we won’t get what we deserve until we become more fully engaged with the political process . . .
